About the Event
Nikka was born in raised in small-town Wisconsin. Nikka was raised in a family rich with culture, science, faith, diversity, and arts. She has studied dance, ballet, jazz, modern, tap, African, hip-hop, and Bellydance, since the age of 6 and started yoga at 16. Nikka fell in love with yoga and all it had to offer and decided to do teacher training when she was 18. She wanted to share the benefits and teaching came naturally to her. She taught yoga throughout college all over Milwaukee at studios, at the UWM school gym, senior homes, and kids camps.
Nikka attended UW Milwaukee Peck school of the arts and graduated with honors with a major in Dance and a minor in Somatics, the mind-body connection. After graduating Nikka packed up her car and drove to LA! There, she studied Chinese yoga and healing arts. She became a behavioral therapist for children with special needs and fell in love with it. She taught yoga, fitness, and dance at studios around LA for nine years and taught privately as well as at detox and treatment centers, and for events.
Nikka graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a level 3 certificate in 2019 in Yoga Therapy and now works privately as a yoga therapist for mental health, disease and illness, autism, and injury rehab. In addition, she completed a 50-hour Practicum at Venice Family Clinic for Yoga therapy for mental health under the supervision of Julie Carmen MA, LMFT, C-IAYT, ERYT-500.
She recently spent six months working in Dubai, United Arab Emirates where she taught yoga, dance, personal training, pilates, and yoga therapy to kids, adults, and elders. Due to COVID19 she returned to the United States where she now teaches at drug and alcohol treatment centers, teaches yoga theory privately, and teaches dancing and choreography as well.
